2021 Season

YOUTH AUDITIONS & SHOW ANNOUNCEMENTS

Auditions for our 2021 Youth Plays will be held Saturday, May 1st and Sunday, May 2nd for interested children aged 7-16.

Please click on THIS LINK for more information and to register for auditions!

All auditions must be signed up in advance; no walk-in auditions will be allowed.

Performance dates for our 2021 Youth Plays are Saturday, July 17 and Sunday, July 18 – please note these dates are later than our typically youth weekend performances!  Specific times for the following shows will be announced at the beginning of May:

FOR CHILDREN AGED 7-11 – Directed by Michele Knott, Caitlin Lewellyn, and Sydney Kelly

SNOW WHITE LITE (by Jacob Dorn) – This show is so “lite,” it only has five dwarves! Since they don’t need help with cooking and cleaning, they hand Snow White a plunger and put her to work! When the Queen, cleverly disguised in Groucho glasses, tries to finish Snow White off with a poisoned apple, the girl is saved by the quick response from Prince Heimlich.

THE BANK JOB (by Carlene Griffith) – In THE BANK, superheroes, with the help of a local news reporter, attempt to stop their arch enemy from robbing the city bank.  Join Brain Girl, Captain Buff, and Metamorphis Man as they all come together to stop a small town city from going bankrupt.

PEGGY THE PINT SIZED PIRATE (by D. M. Larson | freedama.net ) – Peggy is a little pirate who wants to sail the seas but is always picked last for a crew. But when the other pirates are captured by a sea monster, it’s up to Peggy to save the day.

FOR CHILDREN AGED 12-16 – Directed by Cheri Semelroth and Katie Haage

THE BROTHERS GRIMM SPECTACULATHON (by Don Zolidis) – Two narrators attempt to recreate all 209 of the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm in a wild, fast-paced extravaganza. To make it more difficult, they attempt to combine them into one gigantic fable using Rapunzel, Rumpelstiltskin, Hansel and Gretel, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and other more obscure stories like Lean Lisa and The Devil’s Grandmother.

GAME OF TIARAS (by Don Zolidis) – When the aging king of a Magical Kingdom (England) decides to split his empire between his three daughters, Cinderella, Belle, and the Snow Queen (who in no way resembles a copyrighted character), terrible tragedy ensues. Terrible, hilarious tragedy. Combining the gut-wrenching plot twists of Game of Thrones, and the soul-numbing despair of Shakespearean tragedy, this adaptation of King Lear will leave you dying with laughter as the body count mounts. When you play the Game of Tiaras, you win or you die.

2021 SEASON ANNOUNCEMENT

  • Productions to be presented outside at Butler Haynes Park in Mapleton
  • Two adult musical cabaret performances: June 18-19 and July 23-24
  • Youth Show weekend: July 17-18

Arc Light Productions is excited to announce the plans for our “Under the Stars” 2021 summer season. Due to Covid-19, our shows and schedules will look a little different, but we intend to host versions of our adult, youth, and junior productions this summer at Butler Haynes Park in Mapleton in cooperation with the Hollis Park District.

For our youth and junior productions (1st grade up to age 16), participants will engage in outdoor rehearsals at Hollis Park facilities with the final productions to be performed at Butler Haynes Park on July 17 and 18.  Participants will be grouped in pods of 8-10 people on separate scripts that will share show dates to perform a series of shorter plays.

For our adult and high school aged performers, Arc Light will host two musical cabaret events, one June 18-19 and one July 23-24, with performances to be held at Butler Haynes Park.

Arc Light is committed to following all social distancing and mitigation measures outlined by the Illinois Department of Health (IDPH).  Strict protocols will be enforced for all performances and attendees during rehearsals and performances.  Outdoor performances will be combined with social distancing, mask wearing as mandated, and limited audience seating to help reaffirm our commitment to keeping our performers and audience members safe during our scheduled events.

More information will be provided regarding auditions, rehearsals, and final productions closer to our audition dates to ensure we are in compliance with the most up-to-date CDC/IDPH theater guidelines.  Check back in April for the next round of updates!
