Summer Show Update – 6/16/21

Hi parents — updates for the youth shows:

1) Join us this weekend at the Oz Pavilion for a great night of musical theater songs – 8pm Thursday-Saturday – $10 admission – bring a lawn chair. Come out and open our summer season! Tickets are available at the door or you can purchase through the Square store:

2) Youth Show pre-sale tickets to cast will go on sale NEXT WEEK. I will send an update on Monday explaining the process. Your participant will be sent home an order blank envelope at their first practice next week. The first round of sales are limited to a specific number per performer per night as guaranteed sales.

3) Youth Shows NEED YOUR HELP! We’ve learned lots of things in prepping the cabaret this week. While we have (and continue) to streamline the set-up and teardown process, we have realized that it takes about 4-6 people to setup and 8-10 to tear down. (We’re putting lots of things in place that shaved 45 minutes off the setup time from the first night to the second!)

We are in need of parents/family to become part of these crews by either volunteering to join for setup or tear down daily from July 13-18. It’s important that these teams are relatively consistent because that’s where the speed comes from – once the teams are trained on jobs we don’t have to take time to retrain.

Additionally, we are in need of another vehicle that can help haul equipment to and from the park each day July 13-18. This would need available to do both a drop before rehearsals start and a pick-up during strike. It’s not a huge amount that has to fit, the biggest component are the speakers as well as some logistical support. Most of the equipment will go in my car.

Understand that we are in a unique circumstance this year in that we can’t leave anything on site other than platforms. Everything utilized for the shows must go up and come down every day of show week. Sign-ups will be open through July 5th. If we are unable to fully staff the setup and tear down teams and secure a 2nd vehicle for transport by then, then I have to start cutting lighting and staging elements to make the workload manageable for available individuals and fit into the available space.
